Be willing, curious and kind
I hear it all the time: “I know what I have to do to lose weight, but I can’t find motivation!”
And my opinion is: motivation is freaking overrated!
WHY?
Because if we are completely honest with ourselves and think back, the vast majority of our accomplishments are MAYBE ignited by motivation, but the fuel that kept us going was not this particular emotion.
Oh, BTW, YEAP, “motivation” is an emotion/feeling.
It has a specific vibration in our bodies, and we recognize that vibration and name it: motivation.
We think in a specific way, and we create “motivation”.
But between the “white” aka motivation, and the “black” aka apathy/unmotivated, what kind of “shades of emotional greys” are still useful?
Or even MORE useful if you’d asked me?
Here is my list:
-WILLINGNESS – the best of all! When we are WILLING to try new things, or keep on going, or find new solutions, we usually can solve any problem. Including losing weight.
-CURIOSITY – also a good one! Staying curious allows us to put our white lab coat on and explore our weight loss journey by collecting the facts, look at the facts with the scientist’s brain, not the judge’s brain.
-KINDNESS/ COMPASSION – Leaning into compassion for us, our bodies, our weight loss journey will create momentum and will allow us to explore new ideas every day. Or to learn from what’s not bringing the scale down without judging, shaming, blaming and self-loathing.
So, yeap! I deeply believe that YOU DON’T NEED MOTIVATION to keep on going!
This is your permission slip!
Be WILLING! CURIOUS! And KIND!
